Crazy for Oxfords

Crazy for Oxfords

The weather is finally cooling down a little bit around here and everywhere you look signs of Fall are popping up. Soon we’ll have to ditch our flip-flops and sandals, though they are a Miami staple, and turn to warmer shoes. I am so excited for the cooler weather to reach South Florida, that right now I’m just vicariously living through the fashion pages of cooler weather attire. One of the trends I’m really loving is the menswear inspired Oxford shoes.

As my headline above states in French, mix feminine styles with menswear and add some of your everyday feminine pieces in nice fabrics like some casual jeans or a nice button-down. Oxfords can be very versatile and can be worn with leggings and a button-down flannel shirt, paired with a short dress or even a long maxi with longer sleeves to fit the cooler weather. They would also look great with a button-down casual dress, your favorite pair of comfortable jeans and a t-shirt with a nice chunky necklace. You can even transition them for work and pair them up with some nice trousers and a blazer.

The key to mixing menswear is to make sure they have a feminine touch to them so you don’t turn out looking like a man. You still want to keep a girly girl look. Look at theOxfords above for some inspiration. Make sure they either have a nice feminine heel for nicer outings or a wedge for casual wear. You can also do a flat Oxford with some girly frills added to them. They come in a range of styles from suede, to pops of color, intricatedetails, colorful laces, ribbons or even a touch of sparkle. Whatever your style is, find that detail in your Oxfords to pull off the menswear inspired look. I know I’m crazy for Oxfordsthis season and can’t wait to get my hands on a pair. I already have my eye on just the perfect one.

Have you ever tried to combine any menswear inspired looks to your wardrobe? What did you add and how did it look? What’s your favorite way to wear mens fashion for women?
