Wise Words Wednesday: Especially for ALL of you . . . just from ME (vol. X)

“The will to believe is perhaps the most powerful, but certainly the most dangerous human attribute.”

~ John P. Grier

“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.”  ~ Nelson Mandela
“Don’t bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.”  ~William Faulkner
“Rare is the person who can weigh the faults of others without putting his thumb on the scales.”
~ Byron J. Langenfeld
“Experience is not what happens to a man, it is what a man does with what happens to him.”
~ Aldous Huxley
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”
~ Sir Winston Churchill
“All charming people have something to conceal, usually their total dependence on the appreciation of others.”  ~ Cyril Connolly
“The unfortunate thing about this world is that good habits are so much easier to give up than bad ones.”  ~Somerset Maugham
In light of last night’s Presidential elections, I figured we could all use a little bit of Wise Words and some inspiration. Many were upset, many were thrilled, despite which side of the spectrum you sit on, things were said on social media, in households and among friends that might have offended one side or the other. There’s nothing any one can do now but support the country we all live in and love each other. We all basically want the same things: a place to call home, to feel safe, opportunities for our families, freedom, and the liberty and opportunity to choose your own path.
I think many of today’s quotes are fitting in light of the country’s current situation and basically very divided stance. Though one candidate won out the other, the percentages were very close in each state, showing the divide in the country’s outlook as a whole. Whether you’re on the blue side, or the red, we have to work together to try to better the world we live in.
Hope you enjoy today’s Wise Word Wednesdays. If you have any wise words (and not fights– those will be deleted) feel free to share n the comments section of the blog below.
