I have my eyes on this beauty from the Online shop Southern Tots, just hoping I can get it in navy strips or polka dots and personalize it in hot pink with my moniker. That will be a difference from my orange straw Target beach bag I’ve been lugging around for the past three years.
Memorial Weekend is just a few days away and that means many Miamians will be fleeing for a quick get-away and others will be flocking to our sunny beaches. After my quick day trip to the beach two weeks ago, I realized it was time for a new beach bag. If you’re on the same boat, here are a few cute options. I’ve gathered some steals and deals as well as a few splurges for you hard core fashionistas.
I tend to be a pack rat so I like a spacious bag that can fit a towel or two, an extra pair of shorts or tank in addition to my beach side coverup – you never know when you’ll be heading for after beach drinks or a quick bite where your sheer and sexy cover up would be showing a little too much. I also include a hat or fedora as well as my makeup case filled with – not makeup, but essentials to survive the summer sun while still looking put together. Whether you want a small tote or a big bag, my recommendation is make sure it’s still cute and doesn’t look like you’re lugging around a weekend overnight bag or a big floppy beach bag that allures to your mom’s frumpy bag of the late 80s. This season it seems to be all about color and patterns. From strips to dotes and even chevron, patters are all over this season’s bags. Canvas is an easy material to choose as you can easily shake off sand that sneaks in and put it in the washing machine if you spill your daiquiri on it while tanning. I usually like bags made of straw because that really makes me feel like it’s summer, but they can tend to be bulky when packing them in your suitcase, many times not fitting, and can be tougher to carry over your shoulder. A little bling on your bag can also make a very girly statement and add some fun to your bag. This season I’m looking for an easy, cute, stylish canvas bag with a hint of personality.
Have you found your “it” beach bag for this year? What’s your favorite style? What do you carry in your bag?
