Fall Shades Mix It Up with Duo Chrome Mixtures

Screen Shot 2013-09-23 at 4.26.12 PMIt’s officially Fall,  though some might have been trying out some darker nail polish shades in the previous weeks, you now have official permission to store away the neons and bring out the muskier colors. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of frost and metallics, but I do own a few.

While shopping for a couple new Fall shades last week, I noticed the duo chrome shades. I had seen the Essie version in magazines ads already and was intrigued. Since I am personally allergic to the Essie formula, I was a little let down that I couldn’t experiment with this shade.

Duo chrome shades are basically tow colors in one bottle intermixed.  Essie’s version is called For the Twill of It and is described as a rich medium brown with reflective green shimmer. Though if you look at the bottle, there seems to be some purple in it as well.

I was more than ecstatic when after some research, I found that two of the brands I can use have their own version of the purple/green duo chrome. Zoya’s take is called Adina and is described as a violet metallic multi chrome with a frosty hint of green and magenta that creates an “oil-slick” look.

Julep also added one to their collection with Blakely, which is described as a purple and green molten.

Opi also has their own take on the shade in Peace & Love, though theirs seems to have a bit more green in the color.

The duo chrome colors tend to show off a different hue depending on how the light strikes your nail. They can look more purple, more green or more brown depending on how the light hits it.
These colors are a great transition into Fall because they’ll still give you some color, that you’re probably used to from all the bright and exotic colors that we saw on trend this Summer with teals, aquas and yellows. Though it still gives you the more sophisticated darker hue that you’re probably already yearning to bring into your rotation. This seems like a really fun color and now I’m waiting to get my hands on a bottle and debut it for my birthday celebration this weekend. I mean, don’t you think that color just yells, “Celebration!” ?
What’s your take on the duo chrome hues? Would you wear this color? Have you worn it? Do you like it? Do you like the idea of a reflective color that has multiple looks?

What do you think?
